Little Lake & Peterborough Marina
While downtowns are usually known for urban attributes like shops and restaurants, the Peterborough Downtown is different. The Little Lake, located just a 10-minute walk south of George Street Lofts, offers a beautiful view and a massive open area that makes you feel connected to nature while still being in the city centre.
Right by the lake stands the Centennial Fountain. It is the highest jet fountain in Canada, with water shooting 250 feet (76 meters) into the air. This stunning attraction operates from May to October and also serves as a relaxing spot.
Located nearby is the Peterborough Marina, which is a hub for local boaters and travelers passing through the Trent-Severn Waterway. There you can rent a canoe, kayak, or other watercraft.
For a more premium experience, the riverboat cruises provide a beautiful way to see the city from the water. The famous Peterborough Lift Lock (the highest hydraulic lift lock in the world) is another highlight worth seeing.
This is a great downtown lake you’ll want to return to, enjoying fresh air and passing boats. It brings much peace and provides beautiful sunsets.
