3 Great Parks Near George Street Lofts

George Street Lofts, a renowned historical building and a sightseeing spot itself, is located in the best part of Downtown Peterborough, within walking distance of some of the best parks and public spaces around. Let’s walk you through some of them.

1. Millennium Park

Located alongside the Otonabee River, it is one of the biggest green spaces in the whole city. It is a beautiful space to free your mind from daily routines and find peace in the downtown city. Near the entrance, you will see a beautiful fountain, and a little bit deeper, there are sculptures that represent the rich history both of the city and of Canada. For a little bit more active retreat, you can use bicycle trails which are conveniently designed not to interfere with walking paths. The view of the Otonabee River is completely stunning, and refreshing in warmer seasons.

2. Del Crary Park

Next is the home of Peterborough Musicfest and simply one of the best parks in the city – Del Crary Park. Located on the shores of Little Lake (100 George St N), it is only 10–12 minutes of walking time from our George Street Loft building. It is a wonderful place to enjoy with family, and through the summer, Peterborough Musicfest hosts live music. There are many ducks on the lake to watch, and the atmosphere is very relaxing and peaceful. Boat rentals are amazing, and after that you can buy a snack in a food stand or visit nearby restaurants.

3. Jackson Park

It’s a little bit further, but worth it: Jackson Park is great for family picnics with its numerous tables, broad open area, and overall prettiness. It is also a great spot for walking, biking, and even hiking, with its trails that are a part of the Trans Canada Trail. It is one of the best spots for wildlife, especially different kinds of birds. There are playgrounds for children. Pagoda Bridge, once an important part of infrastructure, is now a historical reminder. In one word – it’s an overall enjoyable and peaceful experience.
